Bob Cannon earned four letters in both football and golf, and captained both sports as a senior. As a football halfback, Cannon went both ways and was named Most Valuable Back in both 1962 and 1963, each year earning Little All-America recognition as the teams posted records of 5-4 and 6-2. He was also named Most Valuable Player for 1962 as he scored 30 points, ran for 326 yards, and had two pass interceptions. As a freshman and sophomore, he helped MSC attain records of 6-2 and 8-0, and on the undefeated unit, led the team with five interceptions for 73 yards. He finished his brilliant gridiron career with 68 points and 11 interceptions. Cannon also captained the golf team for two seasons, and as a junior finished second in the New Jersey State Conference golf championships. In his junior and senior seasons, he was a First-Team All-Conference selection. In 1960, Cannon won the Panzer Alumni Award.
