One of the true tennis greats in Montclair State history, Daniel J. Sullivan led Montclair’s tennis team with a career 38-9 record in singles play. A captain in his junior and senior year, Sullivan was a first singles player his first three years. His career was filled with honors as he was selected as a four-year member of the New Jersey State College Athletic Conference All-Star Team. He was also selected twice to the Outstanding College Athletics of America. His teammates were also impressed of his unparalleled leadership and skill, and in 1970 he was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player. His accomplishments over a four-year span did not go unnoticed. Upon graduation, Sullivan was selected for an NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship.
