Frank Rossi earned four varsity awards in baseball. Among his achievements were: in 1970 he was the first Montclair State College player to be named to the NCAAs College Division All-American First Team; in the previous year he had been selected for Second-Team honors; he was voted the team’s Most Valuable Player during each of his four years and likewise was selected four times to the All-Star team of the New Jersey State college Athletic Conference; he was MSC Outstanding Athlete in 1970; and he was selected and played for the United States in the World Amateur Baseball Tournament. In his senior year at MSC, he was the 1970 varsity baseball captain. Rossi batted .435 in the 1970 baseball season and his career batting average was .356. His three home runs in one game was a Montclair State record and hs blasted 23 home runs during his career. Following his graduation in 1970, he signed with the New York Yankees.
