Anthes put the Montclair State men's soccer program back on the national stage a decade ago. After helping the Red Hawks capture the ECAC Metro Championship in 2003, he was named Honorable Mention All-NJAC the following year and had a breakthrough season in 2005 scoring 11 goals en route to being named First-Team All-NJAC in addition to being chosen to the Metro Region Second Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA). In 2006, Anthes was one of the top players in all of Division III as he led MSU to its first conference title in 17 years. Anthes scored 18 goals and finished with 40 points as Montclair State returned to the NCAA Division III Tournament reaching the Sectional Semifinals (Sweet 16) for the first time since 1989. He was named First-Team All-America by the NSCAA and D3Kicks.com as well as being chosen to both organizations' All-Region Teams. A First-Team All-NJAC pick, Anthes led the conference in points and goals and was third in game-winning tallies with four including the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Wesleyan University in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at MSU Soccer Park. Ranked ninth all-time in points scored (81) and eighth in goals (34), Anthes received the highest honor from the NJAC in 2007 as he was named the conference's Male Athlete of the Year.
