A two-sport star at Montclair State from 1981, 1983, Wohlgemuth was a model of consistency and versatility during her collegiate career. A record-setting competitor in the javelin and star scorer and rebounder on the basketball team, she will forever be remembered for her overall excellence on the playing field not matter the season, no matter the field. In 1983, she led the women’s basketball team to the finals of the Cosmopolitan Conference Playoffs and for two years, led the team in free-throw percentage shooting 74 percent. She could also play well against a defender, scoring over 770 points in her two seasons grabbing 380 rebounds. Although and outstanding team player, it was in the individual track and field events where she really excelled. In 1982, she placed first in the javelin at the New Jersey College Championships as well as the AIAW Eastern Regional III Track and Field Championships. The next year saw her qualify for the national in only the second meet of the season with a throw of 134-ffet, nine-inches. From that point on, her season was filled with personal bests and post-season triumphs. Wohlgemuth set a new Montclair State record in the javelin with a toss of 153-feet, 6 ½-inches in the NJAC Championships and won the EAIAW with a throw of 136-feet, 6-inches. Her season came to a climax in May at the National Championships. A throw of over 150 feet was good enough to establish her as the best in the country at her event and one of the best to ever play at Montclair State.
