E. Gregory Weiss was a record-breaking cross country, indoor and outdoor track runner from 1969-73 and is one of the greatest track performers in MSC history. Among his many achievements he was elected an Outstanding Athlete of America in 1972 along with being awarded the Outstanding New Jersey Track and Field Athlete for 1971-1972. He was also a recipient of the prestigious B. Croee Society Scholarship for High Achievement and Scholarship in 1971 award by the Panzer School of MSC. Weiss was an All-America track and field selection in 1971 and 1972 and was named New Jersey’s Outstanding Track and Field Athlete for 1971 and 1972 as well as the 1973 Outstanding Track and Field Athlete at the University and College Track Championships. Winner of track and field events across the country, Weiss was the NJ State AAU champion in 1971 and a finalist in 1972 at Madison Square Garden. He was the New Jersey State College and University 600 yard champion in 1971 and 1972. He was the NCAA Eastern Regional 880 yard champion in 1971 and took second in the 880 in the NCAA National Collegiate Meet in Sacramento, CA in 1971. Weiss was the New Jersey State College and University 880 yard champion in 1971 and 1973, the Collegiate Track Conference 880 champion in 1971, and the NCAA National College Division record holder in the 800 meters. He also set MSC’s record in the 880 meter run.
